Cookies and storage
Version 2, in force since 2 November 2026
What changed
Adds that Stripe's payment page uses Stripe's own cookies; what the app keeps for a payment through Stripe and for a sponsor's strip; that Google's ads service keeps its own data in the app once you accept its notice; and a few things the website remembers so it doesn't ask you too often. Also says that the website may show ads to adults, and the cookies the ad company sets then.
The CricMic website uses only the cookies and storage it needs to work: to keep you signed in, to protect your actions and to stop bots. It has no analytics cookies. Ads on the website are shown only to a fan of 18 or over, and only then does the company that shows them set its own cookies (below). The company that shows ads on the website: none yet, since the website shows no ads today.
Cookies on the website
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The session cookie (named after the site) | Keeps you signed in while you use CricMic | Two hours after your last visit |
remember_web_… |
Keeps you signed in on this device | 30 days, or until you sign out |
XSRF-TOKEN |
Makes sure a change you make really comes from you | Two hours after your last visit |
__cf_bm, cf_clearance |
Set by Cloudflare to tell people from bots | As Cloudflare sets them, usually 30 minutes |
A sponsor's card on Play is chosen and counted by our own server, through the session you already have. It sets no cookie of its own, stores nothing new in your browser, and loads nothing from a sponsor or an ad network.
Paying through Stripe. When you buy balls or Ad-free, you pay on Stripe's own secure page, on Stripe's site. That page uses Stripe's cookies, to take the payment and to stop fraud, under Stripe's cookie policy. We don't set or read them.
Ads on the website (only for a fan of 18 or over)
The company that shows ads on the website (named above), and the advertisers and other companies it works with, including Google, may set and read cookies or similar storage, only after its script loads. Its script never loads for anyone under 18, anyone whose age we don't know, or on the landing page, the legal pages or while you sign in.
Storage on your device
- On the website, your browser's storage keeps a few things on this device only, such as:
- your language and your sound choices;
- which season matches you have watched, and whether to show a season's results, until your account has them (your account keeps them, so every device you sign in on knows);
- a league invite you opened, until you can use it;
- the last level this device showed you, so a new level is marked once;
- the team you are building in the Time Machine, and your drafts in Best XI and Timeline;
- when we last offered to turn on notifications or to sign in, so we don't ask too often, and whether you closed the bar that offers the app;
- a mark that you have been here before, so the landing page knows to take you to your games.
- A copy of CricMic's pages is kept for up to 24 hours, so it opens when you are offline.
- In the app, your sign-in is kept in your phone's secure storage, and your settings and a copy of your games in the app's own storage. The app also keeps:
- a payment you started with Stripe, until it is settled or runs out, so the app can check it when you come back;
- the next sponsor's strip for the opening screen, with its picture, its dates and the day it last showed, so the screen never waits for it. Nothing about you goes with it.
- Google's ads service in the app keeps its own data on your phone, such as how often you have seen an ad, under Google's privacy policy. It starts only for a fan of 18 or over who accepted the notice about Google's ads, and never on the website.
Your choices
You can clear cookies and storage in your browser's settings at any time; you will then be signed out on that device. In the app, signing out or deleting your account clears what it keeps, and someone else signing in on the phone clears the sponsor's strip.
Changes
If we ever add a cookie on the website that isn't needed for CricMic to work, we will ask you first. Before the first ad on the website, a one-line notice says which company shows it.
