Partnership builder: hit the target

Partnership Builder is a free cricket numbers quiz. You get twelve batters and a target in career runs for one format. Pick the two whose runs together come closest to the target without going over. You get one try, and puzzles are numbered, with an archive.

How to play

  1. Read the format, ODI, Test or T20 international, and the target.
  2. Look through the twelve players; their totals stay hidden.
  3. Pick two and submit the pair.
  4. See every total and the best pair.

Scoring

The best pair scores 100. Any other pair scores its total's share of the best, and a pair over the target scores nothing.

A judgement, not a sum

Every puzzle has one best pair, with at least two other pairs within 5% of it. The players are well-known batters with at least 30 matches in that format.
